Tamara Burenko, executive director of the Center for Energy Security of Ukraine, tried to understand distributed electricity generation from a professional point of view.
The conference on decentralized generation by Ukrenergo is the first attempt at a frank conversation between people who make decisions at the central level and people who need to implement these decisions at the community level.
Ukrenergo offers to hold auctions for the purchase of related services on the electricity market for businesses that will generate electricity to the network during peak loads (morning and evening). Expensive, from 24 to 33 euros per MW.
This means that the business must install gas-piston generators or new TPPs on biofuel or batteries no later than autumn 2025 and receive the declared 24-33 euros per MW from the moment of installation.
Discussions at the conference were frank and sharp, and we hope that emotions will settle down and the essence will remain.
