The Ministry of Development of Ukraine, together with donors, specialized associations, specialized public organizations and scientists, is developing a National Plan for the Decarbonization of District Heating Systems.
The Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, Kostyantyn Kovalchuk, noted that the purpose of the future Plan is to determine strategic guidelines for the development of the industry, aligning them with European requirements for renewable energy and energy efficiency. It will become the basis for state programs and projects to modernize district heating networks and gradually transition to renewable energy sources.
The next step will be to prepare a draft technical task and evaluate proposals from participants.
The team of the Center for Energy Security of Ukraine was glad to see and communicate with their colleagues, old friends. We expect that this will be a practical document for updating the industry, because district heating is mentioned in fragments in the current legislation, as a supplement to other important areas in the energy sector.
We hope that over time we will be able to reboot and update the heating sector in Ukraine.
